NFL fans this season bore witness to plenty of rough plays this season. Two of the most aggressive moments they've seen this season include Myles Garrett's ridiculous helmet hit against Mason Rudolph. The other was Vontaze Burfict's unnecessary helmet hit on tight end Jack Doyle.

Given the aggressive nature of their acts, fans and pundits were quick to make comparisons between the two. However, the suspended Oakland Raiders linebacker was quick to dismiss the comparisons, saying that he was suspended for football play, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

“The NFL had to suspend somebody for that last night, since that wasn't a football act,” Burfict told The Athletic. “My suspension was a football act. I was hitting somebody. I wasn't taking a helmet off and swinging it at somebody.”

He mentioned that he was watching the game with his daughters, ages 4 and 2 when the scuffle began. He quickly turned off the game after Garrett hit Rudolph on the head with his own helmet. He said that what they did was part of football.

He also took the opportunity to complain about his suspension, even cussing in the process.

“It was bulls—,” Burfict said of the discipline for his hit on Doyle. “I was making a football play. I could see if it was a fine or something, but not a suspension, let alone for the whole season. It kind of seems like there was a target on my head. I mean, there has always been a target on my head.

Fans will be quick to point to the terrible hit he gave Doyle as something that should shut him up before talking as if he was above making dirty plays. Plenty of fans believe both he and Garrett deserve the suspensions they got.
