After winning his very first Super Bowl, Los Angeles Rams defensive star Aaron Donald made it clear that he's considering retirement. After all, the veteran now has a ring and believes he doesn't have any more to prove in the NFL. But, at the Super Bowl parade, Donald teased the idea of coming back if the Rams can retain all of their free agents. Take it for what you will.

Nevertheless, all the retirement rumors began the week of SB56 when Donald sat down with retired safety Rodney Harrison, who eventually leaked on National Television that Donald could consider hanging them up. But the most intriguing part was his reaction when he found out Harrison did so.

Via Greg Bishop of Sports Illustrated:

All the drama started when Donald met with NBC broadcasters during Super Bowl week. Before sitting down, he had an informal conversation with Rodney Harrison, one Donald calls “personal,” meaning between them. When the retired NFL safety joked that the Rams star might play 15 additional seasons, the defensive tackle responded honestly, answering for, he believed, an audience of one. “Honestly, you never know,” he responded. “This could be my last year.”

Harrison shared that sentiment on national television before the game, but Donald didn’t find out until afterward, when reporters asked him about it. “I wouldn’t expect [Harrison] to do something like that,” Donald says. “I wouldn’t want him to.” Notice what he didn’t say: that Harrison was wrong.

There's proof. Donald didn't deny what Harrison said on TV but instead, he just claimed it wasn't right for him to reveal that. Retirement is absolutely on his mind, but it's likely AD waits to see what the Rams end up doing in free agency. If they can run it back with the same squad, there's a good chance he chases another ring in 2022.
