The Los Angeles Rams are back in the Super Bowl after defeating the San Francisco 49ers Sunday in the NFC Championship. However, during the game, the Rams sustained some serious injuries to key skill position players. Starting tailback Cam Akers and tight end Tyler Higbee both left that game due to injury.

Higbee suffered a sprained MCL and appears to be the longer shot of the two to suit up for Super Bowl LVI.

However, the prognosis on Akers seemed more positive. Yet, Akers once again was held out of practice on Thursday.

Akers suffered a shoulder injury midway through the NFC title game. He played just 30 of the team's 77 offensive snaps. In his absence, Sony Michel stepped in.

Michel is seen as a reliable rusher. He runs straight downhill and is a good blocker. But he does not have the best hands nor does he have much explosiveness.

The Rams tailback shocked the NFL world when he returned from a torn Achilles he suffered in the preseason. That's typically a year-long recovery time, yet he came back in Week 18 and played in each playoff game. There is a clear difference between him and the team's other tailbacks. He is quick, decisive, and has top-end speed.
