The Los Angeles Rams managed to clinch their spot in Super Bowl 56 after taking down the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship on Sunday night. While Sean McVay's squad gears up for the Super Bowl, which will take place on their home turf at SoFi Stadium, the team is anxiously awaiting an injury update on a key offensive weapon. Rams tight end Tyler Higbee sustained a knee injury early on in the game on Sunday, and did not return to action. Well, via Ian Rapoport, Higbee appears to have avoided a serious injury to his knee and could be on track to take the field during Super Bowl LVI.

Higbee featured on just 14 (18%) of the Rams' offensive snaps on Sunday after sustaining the knee injury. Prior to going down, Higbee had caught two passes for 18 yards, and had been targeted by Matthew Stafford three times in the early going. Throughout the Rams' playoff run, Higbee has been a key factor in the offensive game plan. During LA's previous two playoff wins, Higbee had caught seven passes on 11 targets for 97 yards. He featured on 100% of the team's offensive snaps in the Wild Card round and was on the field for 97% during the Divisional Round.

With Higbee's status still in the air, Kendall Blanton would likely step in as the starting tight end for Super Bowl 56 if Higbee can't suit up. Blanton has had a breakout postseason. After catching just four receptions in the regular season, Blanton has hauled in all seven of his targets for 75 yards and a touchdown during the playoffs.

While Stafford and Co. would love to have Higbee available for the Super Bowl showdown, fans can rest assured knowing the tight end position is in good hands with Blanton as the backup.
