The Los Angeles Rams are re-signing offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth to a three-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

This is something that was expected all along.

Whitworth pondered his retirement earlier this offseason, but when he revealed that he would be playing in 2020, the general consensus was that he would be returning to the Rams.

Of course, given the fact that Whitworth is 38 years old, the length of his contract is somewhat surprising, but we don't yet have any details on guaranteed money.

Whitworth has spent the last three seasons in Los Angeles and has missed just one game during that time.

The Monroe, La. native, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (55th pick overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.

He was instantly named a starter during his rookie year and spent the first 11 years of his professional tenure with the Bengals, but oddly enough, Whitworth did not truly begin to establish himself as an elite left tackle until the latter half of his time in Cincinnati.

Whitworth made his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2012 and then earned back-to-back Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and 2016, notching First-Team All-Pro honors in the former year.

Then, in March 2017, Whitworth signed a three-year deal with the Rams and elevated LA's offensive line immediately upon arrival, making another Pro Bowl while earning a second First-Team All-Pro selection in 2017.

His play has taken a bit of a step back over the past couple of seasons, but Whitworth has remained a steady force both on the field and in the locker room for Los Angeles.
