The New York Rangers were backed into a tough spot heading into Saturday night. The Carolina Hurricanes took a 3-2 lead over them with a great win at home. Now, the team had to find a way to win two straight games against the juggernaut that was the hurricanes.

Turns out, the Rangers just need a few magic tricks from their goalie, Igor Shesterkin. Shesterkin came up absolutely huge for the home team in their Game 6 campaign, and not just on defense. He became just the fifth player in NHL playoff history to record 2 assists as a goalie. (via ESPN)

The Rangers immediately jumped to a big lead at the end of three quarters in Game 6 against the Hurricanes. A huge part of that was Shesterkin's efforts on the defensive side of the puck. The goalie also came in clutch with his assists, leading to a couple of goals from his star teammates on offense.

After winning Game 6, the Rangers now look to finish the 3-2 comeback against the Hurricanes. However, it's not going to be easy for them. Carolina has been on fire when playing in front of their home crowd. So far in the series, NY hasn't been able to crack the code.

Game 7 of the Rangers-Hurricanes series will be played on Monday night. The winner of that game will go on to face the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning in the penultimate round of the NHL playoffs. The stakes are incredibly high for this rubber match. Who will come out on top?
