The Toronto Raptors have made a move regarding Pascal Siakam's injury, hinting at added on-court work and, ultimately, a return.

Siakam suffered a shoulder injury last May, requiring him to miss the remainder of the 2020-21 NBA season. Nevertheless, the Raptors missed the playoffs last season, failing to bag a slot among the lower seeds.

On June 11, the team announced that Siakam underwent successful surgery to repair the torn labrum on his left shoulder. At the time, the report included an estimate for the star's return, which is five months.

Today, the former all-star is seen to take a significant step towards seeing live-action. The Raptors decided to assign Siakam to their G League affiliate, Raptors 905.

Of course, a decision like this doesn't mean that Siakam will play in the G league long term. Instead, it's a step that is essential for his rehabilitation journey.

Last year, Siakam averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists— missing out on the all-star team. This year, the Raptors are looking to return to the playoffs and are witnessing remarkable performances from Fred VanVleet and O.G. Anunoby.

Despite losing Kyle Lowry in the offseason, Toronto seems to maintain its defensive capabilities and energizing style of play with the addition of young players such as Precious Achiuwa. However, teams like the Wizards, Bulls, and Hornets have been performing well given their critical additions from the offseason.

Toronto currently has three wins and three losses. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Raptors will need Siakam as soon as possible to make a significant push towards a return to the playoffs.
