The Baltimore Ravens emerged from Week 14 with not only a tough loss to the Cleveland Browns, but also an injury to star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson suffered an ankle sprain, though head coach John Harbaugh recently told ESPN's Adam Schefter that his signal-caller is considered day-to-day. Harbaugh's words, coupled with the Ravens' recent actions at quarterback, could be telling when it comes to the status of Jackson.

Per NFL reporter Doug Kyed, the Ravens are signing veteran backup Josh Johnson off of the New York Jets' practice squad. Johnson, who spent a few months with Baltimore back in 2016, has at least some familiarity with the Ravens' playbook, which could benefit Baltimore if the Jackson injury is worse than Harbaugh alluded to.

Of course, the Ravens could also just be bringing in Johnson as extra insurance while also fully intending to start Jackson under center against Green Bay. Wednesday will be telling for Baltimore, as it is the first day that teams release their practice reports.

It remains to be seen if Jackson will even be able to take the practice field on his sprained ankle. Even if he isn't at Ravens practice, there's a chance that he suits up with limited or zero practice reps, as Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has done.

However, if Jackson is ultimately held out, the Ravens will have another option behind Lamar Jackson besides incumbent backup Tyler Huntley with the newly signed Josh Johnson in town.
