Although they had expressed interest in wide receiver Dez Bryant, the Baltimore Ravens still put it an offer for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead. Now it seems the decision has finally been made.

New Orleans decided not to match Baltimore's offer for Snead thus making him a Raven. As a result, they are now out of the running for Bryant's services, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter:

The news certainly deals a blow to Bryant's prospects as a free agent. Baltimore was the only team to publicly express their interest ever since his surprising departure from the Dallas Cowboys. However, it seems they decided to go in a more youthful direction with Snead.

Needless to say, Snead has come a long way since his start as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State. He burst onto the scene in the 2015 campaign as an integral part of the Saints' pass-heavy approach. He registered 69 receptions for 984 yards and three touchdowns that year.

He followed up with another strong outing in 2016, however, things took a turn for the worst last season due to off-field issues. Although the Sants attempted to keep him around on a tender, the Ravens decided to swoop in and take them off their hands. While Snead's fortunes for the future bode well, the same cannot be said for Bryant.

The former three-time Pro Bowler is likely hoping to land with a contender where he can play a vital role in the offense. Unfortunately, his alleged “baggage” and recent lack of production suggest such opportunities are limited for him at this time.
