The 2018 regular season is just a few days from getting underway, which has led to league-wide cuts to narrows down to a 53-man roster.

The Baltimore Ravens have made a notable decision with one of their cuts by parting ways with former 2015 first-round pick wide receiver Breshad Perriman on Saturday morning.

In his first three years in the league, it has been nothing short of a struggle for Perriman to stay on the field as he has dealt with numerous injuries over that span. He missed his entire rookie campaign in 2015 due to a partially torn PCL in his right knee and was forced to sit out all of training camp last year with a partially torn ACL in his left knee.

When he was on the field, he had difficulty being a major factor in the passing game as he had issues with drops while his production was nowhere near what's expected from a first-round selection.

In 27 games played over his first three years, Perriman made 43 catches for 576 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 27 games played. In the 2017 campaign, he had only 10 catches on 34 targets for 77 receiving yards in 11 games played. Perriman never fulfilled the expectations laid out for him coming as a first-round pick, but fell well below ever becoming a factor in the passing game.

The Ravens did add several other proven wide receivers to the roster with Michael Crabtree, John Brown, and Willie Snead in free agency this offseason. Perriman's release will increase the dependency on each of them to be bigger options in the passing game that struggled to produce last season.

Meanwhile, Perriman could have a chance to latch onto another team before the season starts or could join a practice squad to prove that he can be an effective wide receiver.
