The prospect of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be an exciting one, but it also comes with plenty of responsibilities including having to help maintain the secrecy around certain projects or plot points. This is a reality that has been setting in for Deadpool, himself, who has admitted to feeling the nerves around becoming part of the MCU with his newest film.

With Deadpool and Wolverine set as the only theatrical release for Marvel Studios in 2024, star Ryan Reynolds admits he is feeling the pressure from this along with simply joining the MCU. He admitted these nerves to Empire, via FandomWire, about not trying to spoil anything for his new film or anything else about the MCU's future he may have been clued in to.

“I’m very nervous talking to you,” Reynolds told Empire.

“I’ve never been so scared of what’s coming out of my mouth,” co-star Hugh Jackman humorously added

While made somewhat in jest, Reynolds' comments about Deadpool and Wolverine reflect the very real nerves many members of the MCU have felt during their time in the cinematic universe. Stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth would often joke about how they can't say anything or Marvel Studios would make them disappear.

The worst culprits of spilling the MCU's secrets, even inadvertently, have been Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo.

The Spoiler Police

Holland became notorious while doing press tours for Avengers: Infinity War and letting potential spoilers slip out during interviews, regardless if it was a written interview or on talk shows like The Tonight Show. It was rumored that co-star Benedict Cumberbatch was paired with Holland during the Infinity War's press tour to keep Holland from spilling any more spoilers, though this was only joked about by the actors and never directly confirmed.

Ruffalo, however, may be responsible for the two most famous spoiler slips in Marvel Studios history.

One was during an interview at D23, also promoting Avengers: Infinity War, where he and co-star Don Cheadle sat down to discuss the massive film. When asked about what to expect from Infinity War near the end of the interview, Ruffalo jokingly responds “everyone dies,” which appeared to catch Cheadle off guard before the interview ended.

That gaff may pail in comparison, though, to Ruffalo accidentally streaming the opening moments of Thor: Ragnarok on Facebook while attending the film's premiere. Ruffalo did not realize his phone was on or streaming at the time, which managed to catch the film's audio before the actor realized it was on and turned off his phone.

While Reynolds and Jackman are trying to be careful about their words, their answers may suggest Deadpool and Wolverine will not be a “one-and-done” for either actor in the MCU. Fans have previously speculated about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning for Avengers: Secret Wars after their appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it stands to reason Reynolds and Jackman could be in-line for something similar if that were true.

Deadpool and Wolverine is scheduled to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.
