Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters is in a bit of hot water right now after a video of the 27-year-old spitting at Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry surfaced. Ravens head coach John Harbraugh has come to the defense of an embattled Peters, expressing how he believes that his All-Pro corner had no bad intentions during the alleged spitting incident.

According to Harbaugh, he is adamant that this is unlike Marcus Peters to involve himself in such an ungentlemanly act:

“He told me exactly what he said in the statement, and that’s exactly what I saw on the field,” Harbaugh said, via Andrew Gillis of NBC Sports. “I saw the clip of it after that; I didn’t know anything about it until then. I talked to Jarvis after the game. I had a great conversation with Jarvis; he’s a great guy, and we have great respect for him. But no way would Marcus Peters do that. I know Marcus really well – that’s not his style, anyway. If he was upset, he wouldn’t be doing that. What he did was he spat in a direction, it wasn’t in anybody’s direction, per se. You can tell that on the clip.”

Landry, however, took offense, and even called Peters a “coward” in what he believed was an intentional act. Peters himself vehemently denied the allegation in a statement:

“I didn’t spit at Jarvis,” Peters said. “Where I come from, when you have an issue with someone, you deal with it face-to-face, man-to-man. Anyone who believes that I intentionally spit at him does not know me – plain and simple.”

This has now become a he-said-she-said type of situation, and at this point, it appears that we can never be completely sure how the incident actually went down. We just hope these Peters and Landry are able to settle things somewhere down the road.
