Lamar Jackson's lack of a contract extension continues to hover over the Baltimore Ravens. No matter what moves they make for the duration of the offseason, not having a contract in place for their franchise superstar will be the biggest talking point. Both sides have reportedly made no progress, which is a worrisome update this far into the offseason.

An interesting comment from Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti seemed to suggest that Jackson was not totally committed to the team moving forward. Jackson dispelled those rumors and said that he loves his team.

Bisciotti claims that the Ravens are ready to sign Jackson but he still continues to put the ball in his court. Jackson represents himself, so negotiations for contracts may be different than those with an agent. Although it is alarming, Jackson's desire to lead the Ravens has been made clear. Continuing to build around him is the best path for them.

Jackson has developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league. He has led the Ravens to the playoffs thrice and the team has a winning record in his stars in all four of his seasons. His dual-threat playstyle has made Baltimore a perennial playoff contender.

Baltimore has no reason to play too much hardball with Jackson. They need him more than he needs them. Although they still have time to get a deal done, there's no reason to delay it. If they can't take care of Jackson, he may truly fall out of love with the organization.
