Baltimore Ravens running back Mark Ingram might not be available for this weekend's AFC North showdown with the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday afternoon Ingram is doubtful for Week 8 as he continues to nurse an ankle injury.

Ingram sustained the injury in the Ravens' Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He has had a bye week to rest, but the ankle sprain still seems likely to hold him out.

The 30-year-old has seen a decrease both in role and snap count this season.

Ingram rushed for over 1,000 yards on 5.0 yards per carry last season, anchoring Baltimore's run game and running the read-option scheme to perfection alongside quarterback Lamar Jackson.

While Ingram has still been efficient on the ground this year (4.5 YPC), he is not getting nearly as many touches. He has yet to play over 50 percent of the team's offensive snaps in any game this year, ceding some snaps to both Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins.

Ingram has eclipsed 10 carries in a game just twice this year, and he has become essentially a non-factor in the passing game. Still, he gives the Ravens a certain change-of-pace feel with his downhill running style.

Baltimore has rattled off three straight wins following its Week 3 loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, and the running game has loomed large in all three wins. The Ravens have rushed for at least 140 yards in each of the last three contests, gashing the Eagles for 182 yards on the ground in Week 6.

It seems likely the Ravens will do everything to establish the run, though that task might be a little more difficult without Ingram against a stout Steelers defense.
