The Tampa Bay Rays have been the New York Yankees kryptonite over the past few years. Even die-hard Yankees fans will admit that Tampa Bay has given New York trouble as of late. The AL East rivals split a four-game series over the weekend in Tampa Bay, with the Yankees winning Games 1 and 2 and Rays rebounding and taking Games 3 and 4. Budding ace Shane McClanahan dazzled for the Rays in Game 4. However, it was young infielder Taylor Walls who stole headlines.

“That team's (Yankees) very beatable, and we know we can beat them.”

Taylor Walls made these comments following Tampa Bay's loss in Game 1 of the series. And he certainly backed up the statement in Game 4 with an impressive all-around performance behind Shane McClanahan.

It started with a clutch home run to give McClanahan and the Rays a lead in the 5th inning.

And then he turned in this potential game-saving defensive gem the 8th.

There is a strong chance that the Rays would not have emerged victorious in the ball game without Walls' heroics. McClanahan, who pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball while striking out 7 in a winning effort, discussed the impact of Walls after the game.

“It was just the Tampa Bay Walls. This game was partly won because of the outstanding effort he gave, and we're very lucky to have him.”

Walls followed up on his initial statement as well.

“I feel like the past couple years, we've kind of had their number. And this year, I feel like, especially the way they've been playing to start the year, they're coming in with something to prove. So it was good to bounce back after the two tough games that we started the series with and get two wins.”
