The Cincinnati Reds' disastrous start to the season was somehow made worse on Sunday. During an NL Central rivalry matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Hunter Greene tossed 7.1 no-hit innings, striking out 9. Unfortunately, the gem from their top prospect wasn't enough for the Reds, as despite the lack of hits from the Pirates, the team ended up losing the game. The Pirates didn't get a single hit in the entire game, yet they still came out on top of the Reds, 1-0. Per Bob Nightengale, this is just the sixth time this has happened in MLB history and the first time since 2008.

That's a truly embarrassing loss for the Reds. Despite the absolute gem from Greene, the team couldn't muster up any run support and failed to tally a single run. Walks plagued the young pitcher, as his five bases on balls ultimately allowed the game-deciding run to cross the plate. Greene registered 1 ER across 7.1 innings, without a single hit.

Just when it seemed the Reds were starting to get things together and turn a corner, the lineup turns around and drops one of the biggest stinkers in recent memory. The Reds had four hits in the game and only struck out 6 times. The contact they made with the ball simply wasn't solid, and they failed to get on base enough to drive in any runs.

As if things weren't bad enough for the Reds already, confidence will surely be at an all-time low in the clubhouse following this humiliating defeat against their division rivals.
