Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson is coming off of a Renaissance season of sorts in which he rushed for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

Peterson will be a free agent this NFL offseason, and the 33-year-old told TMZ Sports that he has no intention of retiring any time soon:

“I'll be playing next year for sure. Maybe two or three more years,” he said. “My concern is enjoying it and playing as long as God lets me play.”

Peterson looked done in 2017 after rushing for just 529 yards and a couple of scores while averaging a meager 3.4 yards per attempt in 10 games between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

However, the Redskins then decided to give him a chance shortly before the 2018 campaign started, and Peterson obliged with his first 1,000-yard season since 2015, tallying three games of 100-plus yards rushing. His best performance of the year came during a Week 8 victory over the New York Giants in which he totaled 149 yards and a touchdown on the ground while also catching a seven-yard touchdown pass.

Peterson spent the first 10 years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before injuries finally took their toll, resulting in his release following the 2016 campaign.

The future Hall-of-Famer was truly special during his Vikings tenure, leading the league in rushing three times and racking up 2,097 yards in 2012.

Overall, Peterson has made seven Pro Bowls and has been named a First-Team All-Pro four times. However, he has played in just two full seasons over the last five years.
