Washington Redskins safety D.J. Swearinger has never had an issue speaking his mind, and after last week's game, he made sure to not put the blame on the coaches, rather putting all the blame on the players. After Monday night's game, Swearinger extended the blame to the coaching staff:

“We’ve all got to come together, understand it’s not just the players, man — it takes coaches and players,” Swearinger said, via Matthew Paras of The Washington Times. “The players, we locked in, man . . . especially on the defensive side of the ball. It takes players and coaches. It’s not just the players.

“It’ll take a full group effort to get this bad taste out of our mouth and get on the right track. A full team effort.”

Redskins coach Jay Gruden was also asked if he has an answer on how to fix the defense, and he thinks that while the defense did some good things, they need to do a lot better as a whole:

“I don’t have an explanation right now,” coach Jay Gruden said of their defense. “I know we had a big turnover to Josh [Norman]. Did some decent things. But for our standard, for the people that we have, we need to play better.”

Earlier this year, there wasn't as much pressure on the defense with Alex Smith under center. But all the pressure is on the defense with the Redskins now down to their third-string quarterback, and they aren't stepping up.
