It's safe to say that Landon Collins doesn't actually have any intention of causing physical harm to New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman during pre-game warmups this season. Given the inflammatory nature of his tongue-in-cheek suggestion otherwise, though, the league office is reportedly likely to reach out to the Washington Redskins safety.

According to Newsday's Bob Glauber, the NFL is expected to warn Collins about his remarks, but not fine him.

The NFL is expected to reach out to Redskins safety Landon Collins about comments he made suggesting he would try to run over Giants general manager Dave Gettleman during pregame warmups when the teams play each other this season.

A league source told Newsday on Tuesday that Collins would be warned about the remarks, although it is unlikely he will face a fine for suggesting he would hit the 68-year-old Gettleman.

During a Monday appearance on NFL Network, Collins said he would ask Redskins coaches to throw the ball near Gettleman in pre-game warmups to “give him a nice little thud.” He went one step further, too, light-heartedly saying he doubts Gettleman has “the skill level to stay on his feet.”

Collins signed a six-year, $84 million deal with the Redskins in March, the most lucrative contract ever given to a safety. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Giants after being selected with a second-round pick in 2015.

Collins had 96 tackles, five tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and four passes defended in 2018, being named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl.
