The Washington Redskins managed to shore up some depth to their receiving corps with the signing of wide receiver Breshad Perriman. It appears they have also come to terms with free agent wideout Michael Floyd as well.

Floyd has been on the market for quite some time since his release from the New Orleans Saints. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he has now signed with Washington:

The Washington Redskins were able to mask their need at wideout in a dominant win over the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL season opener. However, Sunday's 21-9 loss to the Indianapolis Colts appeared to confirm their fears regarding their weaponry on the outside.

None of their current pieces have established themselves as a safety net for quarterback Alex Smith. In fact, his favorite receiver thus far has been running back Chris Thompson. This is especially true after he hauled in 13 receptions for 92 yards in Week 2. Smith's next best option was tight end Jordan Reed who finished with six receptions for 55 yards. Meanwhile, no other pass-catcher was able to register more than four catches. That said, it is easy to see why Washington is looking to spice things up.

It is safe to assume that Floyd will be rather rusty after spending the 2017 campaign with the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, he failed to ever find his footing after recording just 10 receptions for 78 yards. It is a stretch to assume that Floyd can be the solution to Washington's problems. However, their recent additions are necessary given the current state of the offense.
