The Washington Redskins are set to host former first-round wide receiver Breshad Perriman for a workout on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Perriman, 25, was the No. 26 overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, he was released by the Ravens before the start of this season after three mostly disappointing years. He played just 27 games for Baltimore, making 43 catches for 573 yards and three touchdowns.

Perriman has worked out for a handful of teams already since his release, including two other NFC East teams (the Giants and Eagles) as well as two AFC East teams (the Bills and Jets).

The Redskins currently have Paul Richardson, Josh Doctson, and Jamison Crowder as their primary wide receivers. However, they have not had a particularly great start to the season. After two games, all three are lagging behind running backs Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson, and tight end Jordan Reed in terms of receiving yards.

The Redskins don’t have much depth behind their top three wide receivers after injuries to their secondary receivers — rookies Trey Quinn and Cam Sims, and Maurice Harris. They recently signed veteran Brian Quick as a result.

It’s not a particularly promising sign for Perriman's capabilities that even a team as desperately in need of a wide receiver as the Eagles weren’t interested in signing him. But perhaps he can sufficiently impress the Redskins, who are similarly in need of potential playmakers out wide.
