The Washington Redskins are in the middle of a big-time quarterback competition and will have a tough decision to make when everything is said and done. Case Keenum, Colt McCoy, and Dwayne Haskins are all quality options, but Keenum got things going in the preseason opener with a hot start.

Keenum, who is coming off of an offseason trade from the Denver Broncos, made some waves with a massive 46-yard touchdown bomb.

Take a look at the play for yourself:

Keenum is willing to do whatever it takes to help the Redskins improve. He has been very open about being willing to share his knowledge with Haskins and to help mentor the rookie quarterback.

Last season with the Broncos, Keenum ended up being a bit of a disappointment. After a massive season with the Minnesota Vikings the year before, Keenum was rewarded with a lucrative contract in free agency. Things didn't work out, but he is still a very respected quarterback.

He ended the year with a 62.3 completion percentage, 3,890 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Those numbers show the struggles that he had.

Jay Gruden loves the quarterback competition and the Redskins know that Haskins is their future. Even if Keenum does start, he isn't going to be the face of their franchise. This is a great start for him, but he has a lot of work to do to end up actually winning the job when everything is said and done.

Expect to hear quite a bit more about this competition in the coming weeks.
