Two highly anticipated squads from Europe's regional leagues put on a spectacular showmatch on Thursday. The best-of-three series between KOI and Karmine Corp (Kcorp) hit a peak viewership of over 477,000 on Twitch. Fans finally got to see gameplay from a well-known star, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, who made his move to LFL's Kcorp in the 2021 offseason. Now we have a glimpse of what's to come for the roster in 2022.

The match, which took place in Barcelona, showcased the growing audience interest in the non-major leagues. Its viewership surpassed that of the 2021 LCS Summer finals between two famous orgs, Team SoloMid (TSM) and Team Liquid. In comparison to LEC Summer 2021 matches, the numbers were also higher, third only to G2 and FNC's playoff series and the grand final between FNC and MAD Lions.

Before moving over to the LFL, Rekkles had played in the LEC for eight years—seven of which were on Fnatic (FNC). The iconic AD Carry made his name on that team, helping FNC reach Worlds qualifications, until he made the switch to domestic rivals G2 Esports for the 2021 season. On G2, Rekkles individually had a solid year, winning the Spring Split MVP and named among the LEC All-Pro team in Summer. However, the team just about missed out on a Worlds spot.

The superstar bot laner is now taking his talents to France with Karmine Corp. Debuting on his new team, Rekkles put up an 18/6/13 scoreline across the series, although Kcorp ultimately lost 1-2 to KOI. Nevertheless, it's early days yet and fans are eager to see how Kcorp can perform in the LFL this upcoming season.

On the other hand, KOI impressed with their win and will look to build momentum in the Spanish Superliga. KOI is owned by streamer Ibai Llanos and FC Barcelona professional footballer Gerard Pique. The Superliga kicks off on January 10, 2022, while fans can look forward to seeing Rekkles play competitively outside of the LEC for the first time ever when the LFL begins on January 12 next year.
