The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver Max McCaffrey. No. Not to the big boy roster, but to the practice squad. In turn, the National Football League franchise released offensive lineman Don Barclay from injured reserve.

These transactions were announced Tuesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Max McCaffrey, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound talent, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the Oakland Raiders out of Duke on May 10, 2016, but was released on Aug. 29, 2016.

This won't be the receiver's first go-around with the Packers. Green Bay signed him to the practice squad in December of 2016 and even promoted him to the active roster in January of this year for the NFC Championship game.

That was the good for Max. Here was the bad:

After being released by Green Bay this season after training camp, Max McCaffrey spent just over a week with the New Orleans Saints and its practice squad before being signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars and its active roster.

He played in five games with the Jaguars before being released on Oct. 21.

Basically, while still being a relative newcomer to the league, McCaffrey is already a well-traveled talent.

For what it is worth, and this is not much at all, he is a sneaky good receiver in the Madden video game. While his overall stats do not scream anything near greatness, he just seems to work well as a team's third-option. You are very much welcome for that random, unimportant insight.
