It was earlier reported that Houston Rockets star John Wall is set to undergo surgery to address a lingering issue with his left knee. The good news, however, is that Wall's current problem does not appear to be overly serious.

According to Rockets head coach Stephen Silas, Wall could return to action as early as Friday against the Detroit Pistons (h/t Kelly Iko of The Athletic):

The last time Wall took the floor was on March 3, and he has not played since the All-Star break. The 30-year-old has since missed three games so far, with Tuesday's tilt against the Atlanta Hawks being his fourth. The above report has already ruled Wall out for Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors, making it a total of five games on the shelf for him — assuming he plays Friday.

The Rockets have been decimated with injuries of late, and they have been fielding a makeshift lineup for what has become an extended period. This has resulted in 16 consecutive defeats for the Rockets as they quickly close in on the worst record in the league.

Unfortunately, Houston's rest-of-the-season outlook does not look peachy at all. Wall is not the most durable player around and he's likely going to miss a few more games from now until the end of the season. The same can be said for Victor Oladipo. At this point, especially considering how the Rockets seem to have already gone on full tank mode, it would not be surprising if either/both of Wall and Oladipo get shut down at some point.
