Mike D'Antoni says superstar guard Russell Westbrook will sit out the Houston Rockets' preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers in Hawaii, but will play at least one of their two games against the Toronto Raptors in Japan.

After the Oklahoma City Thunder's season ended in the first round of the playoffs, Westbrook had surgery on his left hand to repair a torn ligament in a finger and also had a minor procedure on his surgically repaired right knee.

Last season for the Thunder, Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double for the third consecutive season. The former MVP put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line.

There’s arguably no one in the league who plays with the same passion and energy as Westbrook. It’s one of the reasons Thunder fans loved Westbrook. Win or lose, you know what you’re going to get from Westbrook every night.

Rockets fans are excited to watch Russ play with James Harden once again.

The upcoming 2019-20 season is all about dynamic duos in the NBA. The Rockets have Westbrook and Harden, the Los Angeles Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while the Clippers have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

The Rockets, though, are the only team with two MVPs leading the charge.
