Halloween is a very important night for some NBA players.

The deadline to sign Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert to an extension is Oct. 31 and the two sides have been working on getting a deal done.

Nothing has been agreed to yet but the belief from Gobert and Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey is that a deal will get done sooner or later.

Here's what Lindsey had to say:

“We'll get something done now or later. We obviously don't comment on negotiations. There are times when you get a deal that works for both sides. There are times when it's best to go into restricted free agent. Luckily, we have great trust with Rudy and his agents. Now or later, I think we're fundamentally in a good place.”

Gobert has blossomed into one of the hottest young commodities in the NBA, already developing elite rim-protecting skills.

Most believe he is worth of a max extension.

ESPN NBA insider Marc Stein:

Most league insiders agree that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert remains the most likely candidate, of the 2013 first-rounders still on the board, to land an extension by month's end. The French Rejection — or Stifle Tower if you insist — is one of the foremost draft steals of recent vintage, ranks as a leading NBA Defensive Player of the Year favorite and stands as a key figure in Utah's rise in the West.

If an extension is not agreed on, the Jazz will still be able to match any offer sheet Gobert signs next summer with another team when he is a restricted free agent.
