The New Orleans Saints are coming off an impressive 2017 campaign in which the team came one play away from reaching the NFC Championship Game. Drew Brees and company had a resurgent season with New Orleans back to their old ways on offense and they could be that much better in 2018 with the addition of wide receiver Cameron Meredith.

The Saints were able to sign Meredith, who was a restricted free agent, during this NFL offseason to help bolster an already talented receiving corps. However, Meredith is still trying to work his way back from a knee injury, but he has a goal in mind moving forward as he said in an interview with the team's website.

“On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s almost a 10…I haven’t had a setback along the recovery process,” Meredith said on the injury. “I’m gaining strength day by day, month by month. I’m excited to see how soon I can get back…But the main objective for me is to do as much as I can with the trainers to get ready for the season. My goal is to try and get back to training camp. As long as there aren’t any setbacks or anything like that, it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Meredith played two seasons with the Chicago Bears before signing with the Saints this offseason. The 25-year-old is coming off a breakout year in which he caught 66 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns. Meredith even threw a touchdown pass last year.

Although the Saints would've been a force to be reckoned even without Meredith, the addition of the young wideout definitely helps the team fill the void left by Willie Snead, who recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens, and gives Brees another solid option alongside star wideout Michael Thomas.
