The New Orleans Saints have been without Drew Brees in recent weeks, but he could be nearing a return to the field. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brees is hoping to return from his grueling rib injury as soon as Week 14 versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Back in Week 10, in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers, Brees took a massive hit after throwing a pass. The veteran quarterback would finish the first half, only to be unable to play the second half of the game due to injury.

After the game concluded, it was revealed that Brees sustained 11 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. As a result, the Saints placed Brees on injured reserve and elected to start Taysom Hill under center instead of Jameis Winston.

Under the new injured reserve rules in the NFL, Brees had to remain on the reserve list for a minimum of three weeks. Provided that, the soonest that Brees can be activated is in Week 14 versus the Eagles.

While Brees has been sidelined, the offense has looked drastically different with Hill leading the charge. Hill has combined for only 311 passing yards, zero passing touchdowns, and an interception. He's also accounted for 93 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Despite losing Brees, the Saints have won their two games without him, giving them the best record in the NFC heading into Week 13 of the season. But with New Orleans Saints looking to keep a hold of the No. 1 seed in the conference, they would love to get Brees back as soon as possible.
