When New Orleans Saints superstar quarterback Drew Brees found out he has 11 rib fractures, the future Hall of Famer was devastated.

Brees, who was placed on IR by the Saints, told Cox Sports' Mike Nabors that his “body completely locked up” on him and it was impossible for him to play despite how tough he is.

“My body completely locked up on me,” Drew Brees said, via NFL.com. “I couldn't rotate, I couldn't throw. It was so upsetting, so depressing, I wanted to be there for my team. I also knew this was my body telling me I needed to heal. My mentality is to push it as much as I can.

“The kids can't jump on me like they usually do. But I can still play Barbies and paint fingernails with my daughter.”

While Brees is out, the Saints will ride with Taysom Hill, who was stellar in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons in his first career NFL start. The former BYU star went 18-of-23 for 233 yards through the air. He also carried the ball 10 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns.

No one in New Orleans knows when Brees is going to be back in the lineup. The 41-year-old can't rush back since rib injuries are very painful, so the gunslinger has to be patient and attack his rehab day in and day out.

The Saints are 8-2 on the season after defeating the Falcons in Week 11. They will take on the Denver Broncos in Week 12.
