The New Orleans Saints signed Jared Cook before the 2019 season in hopes he could add another dimension to the offense. Following a stellar second half of the season, Dan Campbell — the tight ends coach for the Saints — believes Cook can be dominant in New Orleans.

“Jared Cook, the sky’s the limit,” Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell said, via Luke Johnson of Nola.com.

Before signing with the Saints last offseason, Cook was coming off of a career year with the Las Vegas Raiders. The veteran pass-catcher would haul in career-highs in receptions (68), receiving yards (896), and touchdowns (6).

Campbell highlighted his time with the Raiders as a reason for optimism moving forward with the Saints:

“That talent level has been in there,” Campbell said. “(Raiders coach Jon) Gruden was able to pull it out of him, he knew exactly what to do with the guy, and we’re trying to do the same thing. We just know he is a one-on-one nightmare, he is a matchup nightmare for a defense. I don’t know how to cover the guy. I wouldn’t know what to tell them.”

In Cook's first six games in New Orleans, he managed to accumulate only 15 receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. At the time, it appeared that the Saints' decision to sign Cook was a mistake.

However, in the final eight games of the season, Cook would corral 28 passes for 537 yards and seven touchdowns. While he didn't catch nearly as many passes as he did with the Raiders, Cook set new career-bests in yards per reception (16.4) and touchdowns (9).

After a strong finish to the 2019 campaign, Cook's potential with the Saints is through the roof.
