Since joining the New Orleans Saints, veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall has yet to play in any of the first three games that he has been a member of the team.

However, this hasn't thrust him out of a role, as head coach Sean Payton recently spoke highly of Marshall, stating that he has quickly learned the offense that the Saints are running, according to Nick Underhill of the The New Orleans Advocate.

“He's picked up what we're doing,” Payton said. “He's a big target, he's strong. I think he's a quick study.”

Marshall may not be the player he once was, but he has the ability to be a factor in the passing game due to his size and catching ability that has helped him put together a highly productive career. This may come into play at some point during the final stretch of the season, as he has gathered more comfort with the play-calling and schemes that the Saints have much success in operating.

In seven games played with the Seattle Seahawks this season, Marshall had 11 catches on 23 targets for 136 receiving yards and a touchdown. What should be noted is that he was willing to take a back seat to the young talent on the roster at his position in Seattle while he showed he has plenty left in the tank to produce.

Despite dealing with injuries at the wide receiver position, the team has received some strong production from Pro Bowler Michael Thomas, who is putting together the best campaign of his career, currently fourth in the league with 1,120 receiving yards, third with 91 receptions, and eighth with eight touchdowns. He has been star quarterback Drew Brees' primary weapon in the passing game next to Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, who has 65 receptions for 555 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, rookie wideout Tre'Quan Smith has notched 22 catches for 371 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
