It's a sad day for Steelers fans. After the stadium severed ties with ketchup kings Heinz, the Pittsburgh Steelers will now play their home games at Acrisure Stadium. Not only do fans hate it, but they can hardly even pronounce it. Despite their efforts to reverse the change, it appears to be going through full steam ahead, signaled by a rather depressing sight that took place at the stadium on Monday, via Scott Danka. The iconic massive Heinz ketchup bottles were officially removed from the stadium on Monday, putting the first touches on the end of an era.

While the Heinz Field sign still stands, construction workers could be seen removing the massive Heinz Tomato Ketchup bottle from its place on the stadium.

It's truly a moment fans were dreading, as the entire city of Pittsburgh was probably hoping there would be a sudden change of heart from Art Rooney and he'd be able to resurrect the dead Heinz deal. That won't be the case, as the first of many major changes to the iconic stadium were made on Monday.

Love it or hate, Steelers fans are simply going to have to get used to the new name of their home field. Considering both quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and GM Kevin Colbert left the team this offseason, perhaps the time for a change was right. Although, this is surely not the result fans were hoping for.

The Steelers will play their first home game at Acrisure Stadium on September 18 when they host the New England Patriots in Week 2.
