The Seattle Seahawks have been all over the place this offseason, but on Thursday, the front office made a solid decision after signing Aldon Smith to a one-year deal, per Mike Garafolo. Smith can provide some consistency in the Seahawks' pass rush, improving the defense to help the team overall.

After serving a four-year suspension, Smith came back to the NFL playing for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. Many believed he'd be out of shape, or not ready to come back to the NFL after being out of the league for so long. Instead, Smith proved the haters wrong by racking up 48 total tackles, 14 quarterback hits, five sacks, and two fumble recoveries.

After earlier reports of Russell Wilson's displeasure with the franchise, Seattle's front office has made a few moves that should make Wilson happy. After trading for Gabe Jackson from the Las Vegas Raiders, and signing Aldon Smith, the Seahawks have steadily improved their roster.

Smith joins a defense that contains Jamal Adams, Bobby Wagner, and Carlos Dunlap. Seattle struggled in pass coverage last year but adding Smith to the front seven should bulk up the pass rush, thus helping the secondary. If the defense is genuinely better, some pressure will be taken off of Russell Wilson's shoulders next year.

In one of the toughest divisions in football, the Seattle Seahawks are doing everything they can to remain at the top of the NFC West. All four franchises look to be playoff-caliber teams next season, making the signing of Aldon Smith to Seattle that much more important.
