Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams had a frustrating return to action on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

The Seahawks lost a shootout to Josh Allen and Co., who shredded Seattle's secondary all game long. Adams was also caught on camera in an apparent shouting match with head coach Pete Carroll:

Adams explained the interaction on this week's edition of the 17 Weeks podcast.

The All-Pro said he has the utmost respect and appreciation for Carroll as a head coach, noting the incident in question came after he got into the backfield for a sack. The Seahawks safety claims he was asking to be let loose:

“I’ve never screamed at Pete in my life,” Adams said, via Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. “And obviously I just met the guy. I’ve never disrespected Pete and never will. I have so much respect for that guy, you know, for the media and for people that do believe that, that is not what happened. What happened was I was so fired up that I ended up getting two sacks, or I think it was after my first sack, and I told him, let me loose, keep feeding me. I told him I’m my lion. That’s what I told him. So he was smiling under his mask. I can see him smiling, but he was like, ‘Calm down, calm down.'”

Given the above video, Adams' retelling of what went down on the Seahawks' sidelines looks to be accurate.

It is such a brief interaction, and Carroll hardly appears to be very heated. Adams also looks more motivated than genuinely angry.

The Seahawks will undoubtedly set Adams loose on opposing quarterbacks in the future. Seattle desperately needs to generate pressure and defensive playmaking, and Adams gives the Seahawks a vital defensive weapon to deploy.

Seattle is 6-2 on the season.
