Russell Wilson isn't used to being on the sidelines. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback never missed a start in his nine NFL seasons until this recent finger injury that has him out for several weeks.

To say that he's doing everything in his power to get back on the field again would be a massive understatement. Even fresh off a surgery to his throwing arm, the Seahawks star has been joining practice and throwing with his left hand.

“He's actually not bad,” said a joking Geno Smith, who starts at quarterback for the Seahawks today. “I would say he's actually not terrible. I would call him a work in progress. But hopefully he won't have to do that for much longer.”

But unless the Seahawks are planning to trot him out as a lefty, Russell Wilson isn't taking the field in the near future. The full expectation is that he'll be playing this season. It's just a matter of when. According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, it's not going to be anytime soon.

The Seahawks game against Arizona in Week 11 is the first real opportunity for Wilson to get back on the field, sources said, though the future Hall of Fame quarterback, who never missed a snap prior to this injury, is pushing as hard as possible to play as quickly as possible. He had surgery in the immediate aftermath of the injury.

The Seahawks need Geno Smith to step up as Russell Wilson stays on the mend. But look for Russ to get to cooking as soon as he possibly can.
