The Seattle Seahawks are keeping a big part of the offense under contract over the next three years. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Seahawks have re-signed running back Chris Carson to a three-year deal worth $24.625 million dollars.

Carson has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Seahawks amassing over 3,270 yards over that time. The 26-year-old has provided the Seahawks with a solid red-zone threat with 21 touchdowns on the ground to go with seven receiving scores. The Mississipi native has also proven to be an excellent pass-catcher out of the backfield, giving quarterback Russell Wilson a solid safety blanket if he's pressured.

Carson emerged as the Seahawks feature back, and has rushed for over 1,000 yards twice in his career. However, Carson's durability has started to become a concern. Last year, he played in just 12 games, after sustaining a mid-foot sprain during a Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He would wind up missing the next four games, finishing with just 681 rushing yards, for an average of 4.8 yards per carry. In 2019, his season was cut short as the Seahawks were nearing the playoffs due to a fractured hip, taking him out of the postseason.

The Seahawks have tried other players at the lead back role in Rashaad Penny, Carlos Hyde, and DeeJay Dallas, but none could offer the same production as Carson.

Since Marshawn Lynch left Seattle, the Seahwaks have been rolling with Carson and he's been their most effective back. With Carson getting paid like a prominent running back in the league, expect him to be a key factor in the Seahawks offense going forward.
