Cornerback Shaquill Griffin wants to remain with the Seattle Seahawks for as long as he can. However, he didn’t get a fifth-year option from the front office, which leaves him on track for free agency after this season:

“The contract will play itself out and hopefully I’m still here and we’ll see how it goes. . . . The main thing is that the coaches, the organization, they know I love it here. I feel like that’s very noticeable. I would love to be here as long as I can, if not forever,” Griffin said, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.

Griffin found his way to Seattle when the team selected him with the 90th pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He became the 13th cornerback selected in that year's draft. He entered the Seahawks' camp as the fourth cornerback on the depth chart behind Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, and Neiko Thorpe.

Griffin made his presence known and eventually moved up to the starting defensive rotation. He was also reunited with his twin brother Shaquem in the 2018 season.

Despite the uncertainty, the former UCF Knight has made a strong case for his reinstatement with the team. He has remained a key player in the defensive line in recent years. He has recorded 45 solo tackles and 13 passes defended last season which led to his first Pro Bowl appearance.

He will aim to ball out in the upcoming season in order to land an extension with the Seahawks. Ultimately, he will look to continue to contribute to the team's championship aspirations in 2020.
