Throughout the last few months, there has continued to be chatter surrounding All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman's long-term future with the Seattle Seahawks. These rumblings have seemingly grown louder since the offseason began with a few of his other teammates also being mentioned in trade rumors leading up to the free agency period.

Sherman's standing with the organization has become less stable as time has worn on that has headed further in that direction following his torn Achilles tendon that he suffered last November. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the 29-year-old may finally be on the move as he has told several of his teammates goodbye over the last day.

Through his first seven seasons in the league, Sherman has been a mainstay on the Seahawks defense as key part of helping them become one of the top units over the last several years. Along the way, he had established himself as one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL with four Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro nods, and one Second-Team All-Pro selection. However, he has often butted heads with the coaching staff over his career that caused some issues from time to time.

Although there is nothing set in stone at this point, Sherman is expected to meet with general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll on Wednesday to discuss his future.

This is clearly a fluid a situation that could quickly reach a resolution in the coming days with the team deciding what's the next step in reshaping the roster. Sherman is heading into the final year of his four-year, $56 million deal that will pay him $13.2 million in salary and bonuses for the 2018 campaign. With him recovering from a second minor surgery to repair his Achilles tendon, there is no certainty that he will return to being the same player he was prior to the injury.

However, Sherman has refuted that there is anything to these rumors by telling Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated that there is nothing to report that he is just going to meet to speak with the front office.

For the time being, Sherman's future in Seattle has become quite clouded and bleak due to the expected slew of moves that could lie ahead in free agency. These next few weeks could be telling of what direction the franchise plans to head in 2018 and beyond that.
