The Seattle Seahawks are several years removed from having the elite defense they had not too long ago with the Legion of Boom fully intact as well as a powerful front seven. Seattle still has some potential on defense, but the loss of several key players over the years has hurt them recently. Seattle was forced to depend heavily on linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright as well as defensive end Frank Clark this past season. However, Shaquill Griffin and Tre Flowers could re-establish the old Legion of Boom days.

The Seahawks could turn to the free agent market and look to improve their pass rush with Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. Lawrence has established himself as one of the league's top pass rushers in recent years and played the 2018 season under the franchise tag. Lawrence followed up his impressive 2017 season with 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a career-high 64 combined tackles after accounting for 14.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 2017.

The Cowboys will likely be front-runners to have Lawrence next season and he has helped establish a new identity to an extremely talented Dallas defense. The Seahawks and Cowboys run a similar defensive scheme and Clark plays well on both sides of the line so Lawrence could have the left side to himself if need be. The duo would be troublesome for opposing offenses and a move like this could put the Seattle defense back into the elite conversation.

After playing the 2018 season under the franchise tag, Lawrence is undoubtedly seeking a hefty contract and the Seahawks could give Lawrence the payday he desires. Unfortunately, the Seahawks have the decision on Clark as well as he is also up for free agency. If Seattle can make a move for both it could be the move that puts them over the edge going into the 2019 season.
