Ben Simmons' return to the Philadelphia 76ers is in full swing, but his Sixers teammates have to wait a little longer before seeing him on the court with them.

As Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report noted, Simmons has already passed his physicals and can begin working out with Sixers coaches on Wednesday. However, he has to do so while in isolation in accordance to the NBA's health and safety protocols for players returning to market.

After clearing protocols, though, Simmons should be able to rejoin the Sixers. He arrived in Philadelphia Monday night and was immediately tested for COVID-19.

Ben Simmons demanded a trade from the Sixers in the offseason, with several rumors surfacing about his frustration with the team and desire to never play again in front of Philly fans. However, while it looked like his time in the City of Brotherly Love was truly over, a major twist happened after reports on Monday claimed that his agent Rich Paul was working on a resolution with the team to get him back.

Sure enough, more reports popped out seemingly confirming that Simmons is indeed going back after the chaotic offseason filled with drama between him and the Sixers.

It remains to be seen if the Australian playmaker actually wants to still play for the Sixers. After all, his return could very well just be a move to help Philly trade him faster given the lack of tractions they had in a trade for him.

The Sixers do seem determined to convince him to stay, so that's something fans will have to keep an eye on as the 2021-22 season starts.
