The entire population of Philadelphia must have circled March 10 on their calendars. This will mark Ben Simmons' first return to the City of Brotherly Love since being traded by the Philadelphia 76ers to the Brooklyn Nets. But safe to assume, there won't be a lot of love on that particular evening.

Contrary to earlier speculations, Simmons won't be suiting up against the Sixers, probably to the massive dismay of fans. The controversial guard, however, will be on the bench.

Simmons did enjoy good years with the Sixers, becoming an All-Star thrice and helping the team become a perennial contender in the Eastern Conference. So, of course, the question on many people's minds: Will the Sixers make him a tribute video during the Nets' visit? Sixers coach Doc Rivers sounded off on the idea and couldn't help but give a sarcastic yet funny remark (via NBC Sports Philadelphia).

It's classy for Rivers to acknowledge Simmons' contributions to the Sixers during his four seasons with the squad. But as the veteran tactician said, even marriages don't end well. And Simmons' acrimonious exit was, well, an ugly one.

The Sixers have one of the rowdier fans in the entire NBA. They have openly expressed their heavy criticisms of Simmons when he was with the team, so what more now that he's with a conference rival? For sure, he'll be serenaded by jeers, and maybe even some invectives, by the “silent” Sixers crowd.

At least, he won't be bored on the bench.
