It's safe to say that the James Harden acquisition is looking like a success for the Philadelphia 76ers early on. He and star teammate Joel Embiid already seem to have phenomenal on-court chemistry, and it's resulted in huge nights from the duo in their first two games playing together. One NBA analyst has been impressed with what he's seen out of them, with Kendrick Perkins already likening the duo to that of Lakers legends Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, via ESPN's First Take.

“I said, that they actually had the possibility of being on the verge of being the next Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [O'Neal]. That was the wrong comparison. I'm looking at Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar right now,” Perkins said. “When you put [Harden and Embiid] together… I don't know who in the hell can stop those two.”

Perkins is clearly a big fan of the Sixers' acquisition of Harden, and he went as far as to say it makes Philly legitimate NBA Finals favorites. Once Tobias Harris finds his footing with the changes on the offense, this team could be lethal. It is definitely early, if at all even possible, to compare Harden and Embiid to Kareem and Magic, but that didn't stop Perkins from wildly throwing that comparison into the ring.

Perkins seems to believe that Harden and Embiid have already surpassed Kobe and Shaq, after just two games, so take what you will from the talking head's latest hot take.

Still, Harden and Embiid absolutely have the Sixers looking like favorites to win it all right now, and if they can continue to develop their chemistry, this could be an even more lethal tandem.
