The St. Louis Cardinals are in the midst of a six-game losing streak as they are coming off of a huge loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, 11-2. Cardinals manager Oli Marmol spoke after the game and gave an NSFW response, but in a positive manner as he tries to take his team out of the gutter according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“I will wake up in the morning and I'll figure out a way to continue to have (the team's) back and encourage them through a really s***ty time. If you guys want to get on somebody, get on me. But I'm going to continue to support the hell out of that group.”

“You get punched in the face, punch back,” Marmol continued. “It’s the first inning. You got eight more chances. You have to be able to, and we just haven’t been able to, not just tonight, but in general.”

There is no doubt that nothing is going the way of the Cardinals as besides the aforementioned skid, they are seven games under .500., they have the fewest amount of runs in the National League, and they lost Wilson Contreras for the foreseeable future to injury. What's resulted is a slog of an offense every game which Marmol addressed.

“Hitting is hard, but at some point, the lineup just has to come together,” Marmol said via The Athletic. “There’s a group (of hitters) that’s not there yet. It’s frustrating for everybody. At some point, frustration has to turn into a little bit of anger. We have to get it done. Today we did not.”

“There are games where you just have to do a much better job against a starter,” Marmol continued. “You have to create more opportunities against that guy. You got to be able to cash in. The bases-loaded situation definitely was an opportunity, we have to push there. We’re not getting the big hit. You can’t win ballgames scoring one run.”

Nolan Arenado talks early mistakes that haunted St. Louis

In the last loss, it started out in a sloppy way where with Brewers runners on first and second, a ground ball was hit to Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado where instead of turning a double play, he opted to tag the runner and missed. In the immediate future at-bats, the scoring would start for Milwaukee.

“What I should have done is slow down, tag, make sure I get the third-base out,” Arenado said. “I saw (Contreras) take off right away, so I thought I had a chance to field it and tag him like I tried, and he got out of the way, I have to make that play. I made a mistake, I have to pick up Sonny [Gray] there and get the out at third, and just keep those runners from being in scoring position, I messed up there. That inning is on me.”

“In the first few innings, we’re not scoring, and then it’s like, ‘Oh, we have to hurry up,'” Arenado said. “That’s just not a good way to play. But that’s what happens when this has been going on for a little bit now. It starts to accumulate, it’s not like this happened overnight. I don’t know how to explain it,” he added. “It’s just disappointing.”

It will be interesting to see how St. Louis bounces back from their current losing streak as it's entirely natural for any baseball team in a long season to go through struggles. It could start Saturday night as they play the third game of the series between the Cardinals and Brewers as the former is 15-23 on the season, putting them dead last in the NL Central.
