Joel Embiid isn't going anywhere. The Philadelphia 76ers star just locked in a massive extension that keeps him on the team until 2027.

The Sixers star's signing was reported by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

The Sixers have fully committed to their superstar big man. This news comes amid all the controversy surrounding the future of his longtime co-star Ben Simmons.

It remains to be seen how Philly's roster takes shape as the new season approaches, but Joel Embiid is undoubtedly going to be at the center of it all.

Embiid is coming off the best season of his career with the Sixers, finishing as the 1st runner-up for MVP behind Nikola Jokic. He averaged a career-high 28.5 points per game and boasted the best efficiency splits he's ever had through five full seasons.

His 51.3% shooting clip from the field was his first season north of 50% and his 37.7% from the three-point arc made him a legitimate threat from the outside for Philly. But it's his exceptional free-throw shooting that arguably makes him the most dangerous, sinking them at a stellar 85.9% rate last season. It's definitely pick your poison when it comes to Joel Embiid.

Embiid has been a prominent figure in the NBA for so long that you forget he's still about to enter his prime. The Cameroonian is only just entering his age-27 season with the Sixers and clearly still has his best basketball ahead of him.
