Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons has been the subject of ridicule after his less than stellar showing in the playoffs. But once upon a time, the former number one pick was actually drawing comparisons to another pretty decent point forward – LeBron James.

The two both had physically imposing frames while being able to move and handle the rock like a guard. Just like LeBron, the Sixers star could pass and make plays for his teammates like a true point guard. But while James has had his fair share of shooting struggles from beyond the arc, it was never anything like what Ben Simmons is going through now.

James' ex-teammate Channing Frye spoke candidly during his appearance on the Dan Patrick show about his experience playing with the potential GOAT. One topic in particular was how Sixers' Ben Simmons could pick up one key switch James made when it came to shooting.

“I’m just going to speak for him (LeBron). I’d tell him (Ben Simmons) to switch hands.” Frye said speaking on the Sixers star. “LeBron is left-handed and he shoots right-handed but he does things left-handed.”

“Ben, you already can’t get any lower cuz you don’t take shots. So let’s work with the other hand, because then it’s new, it’s fresh and you don’t have the ‘yips’.”

Ben Simmons shifting his shooting hand isn't a revolutionary concept. It's actually been discussed in the past, but never executed just yet. Given the success that LeBron James has had with the shooting adjustment, Ben Simmons and the Sixers have nothing to lose if they want to try it out.
