San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich spoke on Saturday about why the Black Lives Matter is so important to him as an individual. And tried to do so in 34 seconds.

Popovich said failure to understand what Black Lives Matter represents is indicative of ignorance, adding “Everybody's tired” of Black Americans facing inequality.

Gregg Popovich has long been vocal on matters of race, and has also been unafraid to criticize President Donald Trump as being a divisive force in the country. He said back in June White people have enabled racism, and thus are responsible for ending it.

Both players and coaches alike have been doing their best to ensure social justice issues remain prevalent talking points as teams prepare for the official resumption of play on Thursday in Orlando, with Popovich one of the most vocal among the coaches' side.

Numerous players have used their respective media sessions to demand justice for Breonna Taylor, with LeBron James also saying Black Lives Matter is a “lifestyle,” rather than a movement (via Karma Allen of ABC):

“I don't like the word ‘movement,'” he said, adding that he for Black people he considers it a “lifestyle.”

“This is a walk of life. When you wake up and you're Black, that is what it is. It shouldn't be a movement — it should be a lifestyle. This is who we are,” James said. “And we understand that, and we know that for one step someone else might have to take … we know we gotta take five more steps.”

“But also that's what makes us strong, it makes us powerful, makes us so unique and unified — that we've had so much hardship in our life, either from personal experiences or loved ones or reading history,” he added.

James' statement would seem to point to Popovich's suggestion that humans need more “empathy” and understanding with respect to race relations.

Black Lives Matter has immense resonance and importance with every conceivable league circle in Orlando, including Popovich.
