Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, San Antonio Spurs veteran big man Pau Gasol vehemently denied a report which claimed he asked the franchise to trade him or buy out his contract.

While Gasol did admit he's not particularity happy with his role on the team, the Spaniard said all the rumors surrounding him are false and that he wants to know who the “source” of the initial report was.

“What's the source?” Gasol said, via Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “What's the validity of that story? I don't know. I didn't request to be traded. It's not that I want to comment so much on it because it is what it is. I think people understand or can figure out that my situation is not what was expected for me. My only wish and desire is to be able to contribute to the team and be able to be on the floor and do what I am supposed to do and do what I signed here to do, and kind of live up to what I am paid for.

“There are a lot of rumors, a lot of stories. Who knows where that comes from. It would be great if people say, hey, this person has said this. OK, then let's talk to this person…But I don't know. It didn't come from me. So ask whoever that source or that outlet found that information. Go ask them. I think that's just fair. Or ask management, right?”

Pau Gasol has played in 26 games this season for the Spurs. The six-time All-Star is averaging 4.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in roughly 12 minutes per game.

Gasol is making $16 million this season and has $6.7 million guaranteed for next season.
