The summer months are a time for NBA players to rest, recuperate, and then get back in the gym and add to their games ahead of next season. San Antionio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama is no different.

The 20-year-old Spurs center shared images of himself on Monday working out with NBA legend Jamal Crawford.

While promising NBA centers often seek out someone like a Hakeem Olajuwon to work out with over the summer, it speaks to Wembanyama's skillset and potential that he's in the gym with a shooting guard like Crawford. Regarded as one of the best ball-handlers in NBA history, Crawford won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award three times, a record he shares with Lou Williams.

Crawford started doing game broadcasts for NBA League Pass alongside Quentin Richardson in November 2021 and has recently done work for TNT alongside Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller.

Wembanyama is coming off of a dominant rookie season that saw him provide opponents with a terrifying glimpse of what could be to come.

In earning 2023-2024 NBA All-Defensive First Team honors, the Spurs' generational talent became the youngest player to make First Team All-Defense.

Wemby, who finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting, averaged a league-leading 3.58 blocks and 1.24 steals to go along with 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game in 29.7 minutes. He led the NBA in blocks with 254 for the season, recording a league-best 10.01 block percentage—the highest of any player since Manute Bol's mark with the Washington Bullets in 1985-86.

He’s the first rookie to lead the NBA in blocked shots since Bol and the first rookie to average three or more blocks since Dallas Mavericks center Shawn Bradley in 1993-94.

Spurs deciding who to pair Victor Wembanyama with via NBA Draft

The Spurs have the fourth and eighth picks in this month's NBA Draft, and they have some decisions to make regarding who they want to select and pair with Wembanyama as they accelerate their rebuild.

The Spurs have been linked to Nikola Topic for some time but – despite still holding interest in Topic – the Serbian guard's recent ACL injury is certainly somewhat concerning. Seeing as they also hold a high interest in Stephon Castle, taking the UConn guard over Topic may make a lot of sense. Castle has two-way capabilities, and he is seeking to join a team in need of a lead guard. The Spurs match that description perfectly.

As a result of wanting to win with Wemby right now, San Antonio is another team that will be aggressive with their two lottery picks on draft night. The idea of packaging both picks together in a trade for an All-Star-like talent or to potentially make a run at the top pick in this year's draft seems more like a fan-driven idea than one the Spurs are actually considering at this time. With this said, the Spurs would reportedly consider pursuing Darius Garland if the Cleveland Cavaliers made him available in trade talks leading up to the draft.
