Veteran linebacker Avery Williamson's campaign in 2020 just got a complete turnaround after being shipped from the winless New York Jets to the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.

Williamson responded to the change in scenery with an Instagram post with him wearing full Jets gear while flagging down a cab as he embarks on his next destination to Pittsburgh:

Williamson was already involved in swirling rumors prior to the trade. The Steelers were in need of a replacement for the position vacated by Devin Bush, who suffered a torn ACL injury in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. It came to fruition a day before the trade deadline, with the Jets acquiring a 2022 fifth-round pick in exchange for Williamson and a 2022 seventh-round pick.

The former Kentucky Wildcat played 299 snaps this season for Gang Green after missing Week 1 as he completed his recovery from a torn ACL. He went on to tally 36 solo tackles and 59 total tackles through seven games played for the Jets this season.

Williamson's arrival in Pittsburgh is expected to help him improve as the season progresses. At the same time, he will look to provide a steady presence for the already dominant Steelers defense moving forward.

Even without Bush at the helm, the Steelers managed to snag a win against the dangerous Baltimore Ravens for a 28-24 victory in Week 8. They are expected to be even better as they aim to preserve their undefeated record against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 8. Williamson is surely thrilled to be in a much better position this season.
